Hornby Dia N13 Horsebox Laserglaze

10th August 2011

We’re pleased to announce a new addition to the Shawplan stable, the ‘Heritage’ range. We have been asked on many an occasion if we’ll cover steam locomotive prototypes in the lazerglaze and extreme etchings range. Historically our ranges have covered the core Diesel and Electric era from British Rail up to the current day. This new range will be a step into the ‘steam’ era for us, to cover components for some of the quality steam locomotive models currently available for the UK market. Initially we will be concentrating on 4mm scale Ready to Run models, and providing laser cut glazing for locomotive cabs. At a future date we may add etched detailing components for specific classes, however at this time we do not anticipate adding name and number plates from steam locomotives into our range.

Our first releases cover the ever popular Great Western Collett designed pannier tank locomotive. We have tooled up both the early ‘low’ 57xx and ‘high cab’ 37xx versions to fit the Bachmann Model.

Low Cab 5700-5799 6700-6779 7700-7799 8700-8749

High Cab 3700-3799 4600-4699 8750-8799 9711-9799

The Bachmann cabs are molded with inserts for the cab front glazing, our Laserglaze replacements are an interference fit and we recommend them held in place with varnish applied to the body window frame prior to fitting. The low cab variant comes with three windows, this is because we too have found just how easy it is to drop one and lose it!

These are our first venture into the steam locomotive market, and we are looking at other types for early development. We have also been asked about grouping era coaching stock, and these too are in development. The grouping era coaching stock however will not be marketed in the ‘Shawplan Heritage’, range but will be placed in the existing ‘Extreme Etchings’ and ‘Laseglaze’ ranges, as many outlasted their steam engine counterparts.
